Cataclysmically Gorgeous

Phenomenal dress. Simply magnificent. Only one dress is prettier, and that would be its Elite version which isn't available to Anou right now.

Actually, this dress inspired me to build a new transmog set. I'm working on it for now, and I'll post as soon as it's complete! ;)

Special Guest

Anou was invited to an impromptu wedding a few weeks ago. She had to pull something together in about 15 minutes, to arrive in style and steal the spotlight—until the bride appeared, of course. /cough

Well, she went to the beauty parlor and had her hair done and sent word to her stylist to express-mail her a new dress and matching accessories, something different and eye-catching, but not so daring as to out-do the bride.

Bracers and/or gloves can also complement this outfit, making the sleeves look longer and less like a bloody bandage (lol).

Lovely Dresses, Part 1

Of all the gowns and robes and dresses in game, you are bound to have one copy of the Lovely Dress. These dresses are chic and elegant—they are formal-wear, have no doubt—but many a bank alt is sporting one of these for their casual shopping trips.

The nice thing about these dresses is they are not soulbound, so you can store them in your closet bank, as Anou does, and express-mail them to your various 'toons if the occasion calls for it.

The Crown of the Fire Festival was challenging but not as difficult as I'd thought to obtain. It's the perfect complement to many of these formal dresses as it is pale and innocent-looking. (Incidentally, it was an item that Anou desperately wanted to be able to prove her angelic nature. She earned it this year, putting out many a bonfire in capital Alliance cities. Take that Alliance scum!) Now, if only I can get my hands on a Forever-Lovely Rose on both my main characters, I would be a very happy—and well-dressed—camper!

Pandaren Style

Going along with the Welcome Mists of Pandaria party Savage Darkness is aiming for, here are some alternate outfits based on the dresses and pets I mentioned in one of my last posts.

Usually anything black will complement either of these gowns, but keep in mind the Festival Suit will not display any kind of pants or belt. The Robes of Koegler have a neat long-sleeve under three-quarter sleeve effect that you can play off, or switch up with complementing bracers.

Update 18/09/2012: It appears Blizzard has changed the model of the Robes of Koegler (at least the ones that drop in the low-level instance). This sucks for a vast number of role players and fashionistas. Hopefully Blizz will give it back its beautiful blue pattern.

Desert Captive

Finally! This is an outfit I'd seen somewhere and I absolutely wanted it for Anou. It could probably be used as a belly dancer costume, as one of Illidan's "harem girls", as a desert bride (or captive), or any other number of "themes". It's provocative to say the least, so it may have minimal uses as far as true roleplay in this game. But it's just so pretty!

Life in an oasis, tropical weather, sunny skies, the fresh breeze coming off the salty banks mere feet away... Anou takes a rest from the desert heat, inspired by Egyptian beauties of myth, baring hips and shoulders while meandering along her estates.

I've held onto the helm these many years, waiting for the perfect opportunity to show it off. My original goal was for Anou to wear it as a halo, but the pink/dark grey combination never really suited anything angel-like. When she got her hands on this beautiful pink chest piece... Eureka! The legs are to tie in the dark grey in the helm and bracers. It would be nice to find a delicate belt and gloves, and some matching shoulders for an opposite-effect transmog outfit, but for now I've found nothing.

Spectacular Sight

The perfect shoes for this outfit, which I happen to have in my bank (but are Warlock-specific) would be Doomcaller's Footwraps. They are open-toe-type sandals obtained through the AQ quests. Mages and priests can get similar models but in a different color.

The Library

Here's that entry about a variety of books I'd mentioned earlier this week. These are the books I have in my inventory, some normal looking, others mysterious or scary. They match pretty much anything I have put together so far, so I hope they can inspire you too!

Here, Anou is studying magic with the mages, warlocks and priests in Silvermoon City. They have discussed certain issues at length, performed tests and other knowledgeable stuff.

Love and Warcraft

Some gowns are beautiful, some gowns are fine. Some gowns are simple and can be worn on many occasions. But some gowns have just that extra pleat, button or other fancy detail that sets them aside in a whole different category.

These are the gowns that WoW role-players love the most for in-game weddings, engagements, ceremonies and other formal events. These gowns are on my "special" list, and paired right, can give off the perfect vibe of romance. Some people wear them as transmogrified battle gear, others wear them as every day "pretty dresses", but I think they are a class apart.

This is one of those gowns.

Cameo Appearance: Darger (Remember the massive shoulders and perma-frown? He's so awesome he dressed up and came to pose for screen shots!!) is sporting Tuxedo Jacket, Antique Silver Cufflinks, Tuxedo Pants, Dress Shoes, Diamond-Tipped Cane.

Now, same dress, different flowers, and some interesting bracers. But ultimately, the effect is the same. (Although I don't recommend these bracers and gown as a match--I'd actually forgotten to remove them for the screenshot--there's something about them that makes me not dislike the combination.) Also, this turquoise color is my favorite, but this gown comes in various hues, namely a gold-colored one that I also love but don't have (yet).

Simple Robe

Here is another example of the Simple Robe in use. These colors are more fall-ish, but with Anoukisse being barefoot by a crystal clear lake it takes on a whole new dimension. I also chose the Amber Filigreed Doublet because I like the detail on the sleeves and the color gives the illusion that the sleeves are on the dress and not part of a separate shirt.

Lush Private Garden

Blood Elves like everything to be beautiful--they are all vain, superficial and somewhat shallow to varying degrees. You can see their appreciation of natural curves and landscapes, the comfort and luxury of pillows and fabrics, and an overall penchant for layered textures all around their main cities.

Anoukisse is no different. Here she is, savoring her victory in the Observation Grounds of Magister's Terrace with a glass of Dalaran wine, after slaying the vile Priestess Delrissa and her evil cohorts (and waiting for their bodies to despawn).

The dress Anou is wearing has become my favorite for her when she's out and around town. (Some random person once even asked her out on a date, lol.) I especially love it because it bares her shoulders and gives the illusion that you can see her necklace.

Lighted Off-Hands

For whatever reason--you're going into a cave or hunting through the woods--your character may need a handy flame to brighten his/her path. Torches and lanterns seem the way to go in those circumstances. I've discovered the hard way that many pretty lanterns are quest rewards, or no longer available in game.

My advice is to 1) scour the auction houses, or 2) go through the entire Wowhead database under Off-Hand Frills and see what's available to you. Keep in mind that these items don't always use the word "torch" or "lantern", and surprisingly, I found a wand that looks like a torch, so be resourceful.   

Torch of Austen is actually a World-drop Rare BoE wand, but it can obviously be replaced by any other torch. I'm not sure I would recommend farming this item, it's probably easier to check the auction house for an off-hand.

In this next shot, an action shot by all meanings of the word, Anou is wearing Councillor's Sash, but I usually pair this dress with Mistyreed Belt which also goes superbly well. (An exact replica of this belt would be Chloromesh Girdle.) Speaking of exact replicas, Uvuros Hide Gloves are an Outland quest reward, but tailors can make Black Mageweave Gloves which are the same.

Gowns and Robes and Dresses, Oh My!

As fun as outfits are to create and as lovely as they can be, robes and wraps offer a different kind of mood. They grant female characters (especially) a softer, more feminine side, and can tell a story in a more theatrical way.

This beautiful gown comes in two other colors (under different names, one of which is Arachnidian Robes) if I'm not mistaken. However, I like the bright green of this one for its fresh, airy feel. The spider pattern on the front and rear sides, and the threaded sleeves makes for a very dramatic effect.

For a bit more modesty you could add the White Swashbuckler's Shirt, a Formal White Shirt or the simple Sleeveless T-Shirt.

Below you will see two traditional dresses available from Geenia Sunshadow, a vendor in Moonglade. She sells six different dresses, of which I have collected four. Two of the dresses are rare spawn items, one being extremely rare and difficult to get: The Formal Dangui. She sells the dress for 73 gold coins. (I got my hands on one in July 2011, so the dress is still available in-game.)

*For those who don't know, a Hanbok is traditional Korean dress, characterized by vibrant colors and simple lines. It is worn in the modern world as semi-formal and formal wear for traditional celebrations and festivities.
