Matty's Movie Mog Contest

Matty, over at Sugar & Blood, is holding a Movie Mog contest in honor of the Oscars falling on her birthday! First of all, happy birthday Matty! Secondly, thanks for offering up this great idea, and another opportunity for me to play World of Barbies! ;) Or in this case, Lord of the Rings Dress-Up!

Here are the rules:

  • Deadline for submission: February 20, 2013 (any time zone is fine)
  • Submission format: Screenshots of each of your entries, with character name from the movie
  • Mog ensemble: somewhere jot down what you did, so if folks ask, it's available
  • What: Submit three mog outfits, (Mogit is fine) of three characters from one of your favorite movies, or from one of the award nominees this year. For example, Mary Todd, Abraham, and Robert Lincoln would be a good trio. This is not their Oscar or red carpet attire, but the costumes in the films.
It was also specified that the 'mogs didn't have to actually be transmogrifiable, could be a mix of all sorts of stuff, so long as it looked like the characters' costumes in the movie.

On the one hand, I never remember which of my blogs I link back to from various posts and comments on other sites, so I've posted all my entries over at Diary of a Gnome Spy. However, since this entry is completely designed with cloth, I decided I would post it to Anou's Armoire as well, considering this is a cloth-specific blog for costumes! :)

Pink For October

JD Kenada is hosting a very generous Transmog Event, in which he says if enough people transmogrify their 'toons into pink outfits, he will donate $100.00 to a Breast Cancer fund.

'Nuff said.

Featured above: Doomcaller's Mantle, Robes, Footwraps, Councillor's Sash, Dark Storm Gauntlets, Sulfur Stave (I knew this would eventually serve me.).

Transmogolympics

Amateur Azerothian's JD Kenada is hosting a new transmog competition this month in honor of the Olympics in London: the Mogolympics!

Seeing as this site is mostly about my cloth-wearing Blood Elf warlock, Anoukisse (she is a bit temperamental and quite prejudiced against the alliance), I will be featuring my entries/updates over at Diary of a Gnome Spy, my sister-site. However, since all comments usually link back to this site, I figured I'd let people know where the proverbial beef will be.

I felt that adding this particular contest stuff to Anou's Armoire was kind of like false advertising, considering there will be plate, mail, leather, etc, stuff Anou can't equip. I prefer to keep my ideas here sincere and legitimate, so it was fitting that I post my flagbearers to The Gnome Spy which is a bit about everything I do that is WoW related. (And no, it's not a bid to get more viewers over there, I promise!)

The Worst-Dressed Warlock

Here were the contest details:

Spellbound’s Worst Warlock Outfit Contest

Warlocks are evil creatures who dabble with the fel magics that most other people stay away from. Obviously this means we have a certain… image.. to uphold. It’s why our tier sets have huge spikes and skulls, and other awesome looking things. A Warlock should look good.
So let’s turn it around. Let’s find the worst possible Warlock outfit available in the game. Something that would make other Warlocks shun you and not let you near them. Something that would make your demon take one look at you and return back to the Twisting Nether laughing all the way.
Rules: Anyone can join in the fun. The outfit doesn’t have to be possible to transmogrify – use your imagination! – but it has to be things that a Warlock can actually wear/use (ie. cloth/daggers etc.)
Submission Date: The cut-off date for submissions will be 25 April, and winners will be announced by the following weekend.

Ok, so I was late and I missed the deadline of April 25th. :( But I really wanted to participate, so I put my outfit together, "knitted" all the stuff, scouted out a location, and this is what I got:

Maybe I can Polymorph this moth into a handbag...

Accessories

Although the rules stated it didn't need to be transmogable, I did want to put something together that could be, so it would feel more complete. Just the fact of bypassing a shoulder piece makes an outfit seem more casual and less sinister. Ultimately, I like the "I want to look like a sinister warlock" feel to the outfit, yet, the pants and boots make it look more like a melee class as opposed to a casting class, and the little bag of tricks combined with the jerkin says "amateur circus magician" to me.

Featured above: Felheart Horns, Nemesis Spaulders, Eldr'naan Jerkin, White Swashbuckler's Shirt, Nemesis Gloves, Wisdom of the Timbermaw, Shadoweave Pants, Shadoweave Boots, Fang of Venoxis, Khadgar's Knapsack, Wand of the Archlich.
